library Lions is The New York Public library's most important annual event and one of the most anticipated dinners on New York City's social calendar. This year—at a time when library usage has skyrocketed—we are expanding on our library Lions tradition. Along with the noted luminaries we are recognizing tonight—Annie Prolux, Pulitzer Prizewinning author of The Shipping News and "Brokeback Mountain" and Hilary Knight, beloved illustrator of the Eloise children's books—we are honoring three members of the library's extraordinary staff, heroes on the front lines who make a difference in the everyday lives of New Yorkers.

CDFinder www.cdfinder.de is the powerful yet easy-to-use Digital Asset Manager for Macintosh and Windows http The software catalogs any type of data (photos, movies, songs, documents), on any device (hard disk, CD, DVD, Blu-ray, USB sticks, server volumes, iPods, etc.) and offers powerful Find features to quickly locate your data. The extensive support of metadata (Adobe XMP, EXIF, IPTC, MP3, and more) also increases the abilities to locate our files anywhere. - Find your stuff with CDFinder The whole purpose of CDFinder is to find and locate your digital photos, movies, songs and other files, regardless of where they are actually stored.. To help you with that, there are plenty of ways to find your files. The first one is located right in the main window, called Quick Find. Type in what you are looking for, in this example search for "Supertramp". Hit return, and CDFinder shows you everything it knows about this famous Pop band. As you see, this includes songs, photos, and other items. Did you notice that CDFinder even found items that don't have the term Supertramp in their name? That is because Quick Find searches all fields in the database. In this case, the MP3 tags of this song file contained the band name in the Artist field. If you need more control over what CDFinder finds for you, the Find window is the place to go. Here you can set up the parameters for any query that CDFinder can handle. First, in this menu, you define in which catalogs CDFinder will search ...

CDFinder www.cdfinder.de is the powerful and easy-to-use Digital Asset Manager for Macintosh and Windows http This amazing software catalogs any type of data (photos, movies, songs, documents), on any device (hard disk, CD, DVD, Blu-ray, USB sticks, server volumes, iPods, etc.) and offers powerful Find features to quickly locate your data. The extensive support of metadata (Adobe XMP, EXIF, IPTC, MP3, and more) also increases the abilities to locate our files anywhere. - Text Transcription: Welcome to the New Features of CDFinder 5.6.1 This new version of CDFinder has some very exciting new abilities. First of all, you can now catalog Elgato EyeTV Recordings. You will get a thumbnail of every recorded TV show or movie, and also the entire set of metadata, such as the EPG description, actors, year, episode, and so on. Some of my own recordings here dont have a thumbnail yet, they were recorded with the older EyeTV 2 software, and I havent watched them yet. Wow. Still a lot of watching to do! You still get the metadata for these anyway. It is all here for you to Find it! Just make sure that you have enabled the cataloging of previews and media info of video files in the CDFinder Preferences. The second very cool new feature in CDFinder 5.6.1 is that the GeoFinder uses OpenStreetMap now. The older world image is still available, if you have no internet connection, but the street level map is just so much better. Type in a name, here San Francisco, and you will see a map of ...

www.cdfinder.de Welcome to the New Features of CDFinder 5.7 Hi, my name is Norbert M. Doerner, and I am the developer of CDFinder. I am very proud to present you the brand new CDFinder 5.7, the best disk cataloger ever! The new features in groups Audio CDFinder has always supported MP3, AAC (those iTunes files), AIFF, and Windows WAVE files. Due to popular demand, we have added two more formats: FLAC (the free audio lossless codec), and ALAC (Apples own lossless codec). Of course, CDFinder catalogs all important metadata, the duration, tags, artist, and even cover art and lyrics. Cool! Documents A nice thumbnail is worth more than a thousand words, so CDFinder now has thumbnails for even more document formats. Apple Pages and Keynote, Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe InDesign, and even Quark XPress. Isn't that nice? How about text files? Wouldn't it be cool if CDFinder could peek into those as well and give you a small preview, so you have an idea what is in the file? Yes, that would be cool and CDFinder can now do that! Supported formats include .doc and .docx from Microsoft Office, TXT, RTF, NFO and textClipping files. CDFinder will read the first 256 characters, display them in the Inspector, and of course search them. Turn that on in the Cataloging Preferences here! Photos One important new feature you hopefully won't even see is the new metadata cataloger in CDFinder, it is much more stable now. And you can finally export photos directly from CDFinder! Select a couple of ...

Chef Ree Drummond appears at the National Book Festival. Speaker Biography: Ree Drummond says she grew up on the seventh fairway of a golf course in a corporate town, attended college in Los Angeles and wore black pumps to work every day. She ate sushi and treated herself to pedicures on a semiregular basis. "Then, on a brief trip to my hometown, I met and fell in love with a rugged cattle rancher," she says. "Now I live in the middle of nowhere on a working cattle ranch. My days are spent wrangling children, chipping dried manure from boots, washing jeans and frying calf nuts." Her best-selling "The Pioneer Woman Cooks" (HarperCollins) is filled with recipes she loves to cook on the ranch, "along with some cows and horses, of course, and one cantankerous basset hound named Charlie." Drummond lives in Oklahoma.

"A Day at elbulli," FERRAN ADRIÀ in conversation with Corby Kummer & Harold mcgee, LIVE from the NYPL, October 10, 2008 No one can get into elbulli, Ferran Adriàs restaurant on the northeast coast of Spain. But plenty of people certainly try: every year, the restaurant receives over two million requests for only 8000 seats during the six months it is open. In this video, Ferran Adrià is joined by Corby Kummer and Harold mcgee for an evening of explanation and exploration of the sublime. Corby Kummer, the author of "The Pleasures of Slow Food," tries to bridge the apparent gulf between the current locavore quest for regional authenticity and simplicity with Ferran Adriàs stratospheric journeys, taking as a key clue Adriàs enthusiastic support of the Slow Food movement. And Harold mcgee, the author of the classic On Food and Cooking and the New York Times column The Curious Cook, tries to bridge the gap between Adriàs kitchen and yours, with his incomparable ability to make the abstruse understandable to everyone.
