Preheat oven to 250F (120C) When I made a coffee pavlova for my birthday this year, I filmed the entire process in time-lapse mode. I also took photographs of the ingredients, mostly in multilingual Swiss packets, which might help people looking for the ingredients in French-, German- or Italian-speaking countries. I then added music and titles to create this video recipe. Here's a transcript: For my birthday this year I made a pavlova, a typical New Zealand dessert. The typical New Zealand recipe involves buying one ready-made from the supermarket but I live in Switzerland, so I used: "Aunt Daisy's" pavlova recipe on a fridge magnet. Extracts from this recipe will be in blue [My comments will be in black or in square brackets in the transcript] a small pinch of salt one teaspoon white vinegar [I used balsamic because it's what I had] 1/4 teaspoon vanilla essence [I used a teaspoon of coffee instead, for a coffee pavlova] one teaspoon cornflour (cornstarch) 3/4 cup caster sugr (berry sugar) Note: do not use ordinary granulated sugar [I used raw caster sugar because it was easier to find. It's also tastier in case I forget the vanilla. A mixture of normal sugar and icing sugar also works. My sister, who lost 80kg, says it's fine with half NutraSweet.] [0 cups Russian ballerina] 4 egg whites at room temperature [so, 4 eggs and a bowl to put the yolks in] one cup heavy whipping cream sliced and peeled kiwifruit, passionfruit, strawberries or seasonal berries to garnish [An ...

This is a time lapse of the development of a progressive mural called STONE SOUP, created at Grace Gallery in Vancouver, BC, Canada. The mural was created in 8-10 days over the course of just over three weeks. It was curated by Jennifer Mawby and Sherri Kajiwara of Vantage Art Projects. The three artists in this video are all Vancouver based: Lisa Birke, Weakhand and Christian Nicolay. The folk legend of the STONE SOUP has direct application for our current economic times. In the story, famine has hit a small village. Each villager believes that there is no food to eat in their own cupboards. Then, a savvy stranger rolls into town with a story that he will make a meal for them all from just a magic stone that he carries with him. By encouraging the villagers to each bring a little something to add to the stone soup (such as a carrot or a potato) the stranger is able to create a nurturing meal for all to share. News media is announcing to viewers on a daily basis about how tough the current economic climate is for us. Stock values have plummeted, and companies are in a no-growth and down-sizing period. People are losing their jobs and it appears to be famine season. To combat the belief that times are too tough, the stone soup fable can be applied to create recession-proof thinking in both art-making and the general public zeitgeist. The STONE SOUP exhibition is a model for socially interactive, sustainable, and fiscally responsible art production using a group of artists ...

I have made this recipe half a dozen times so far, however this is the first time I've used wheat flour in the dough. The wheat flour gave the bread an amazing mouthfeel and extra subtle flavor. See the original recipe video here: www.youtube.com

bit.ly Good Nutrition like everything else does not have to be complicated, simple is better. Follow these simple rules for 2 to 3 months and you will be amazed at the results. 1. Revise your Cupboard. Simple Rule: If Man Made it Don't Eat It. If it is not in your house you can't eat it. Rid your kitchen of processed foods and snacks. Do not fall for marketing that claim low-fat, low-sugar, low-carbohydrate. Too many companies manipulate labels and they are hard to figure out. Keep your cupboard simple. Chicken, tuna, vegetables (fresh, frozen and canned are fine), fresh fruits, and complex carbohydrates consisting of whole wheat, brown rice, yams, oatmeal (not the processed quick cook kind). Use plenty of herbs and spices so your meals don't get boring. 2. Handy Gauge Simple Rule: Use Your Hand to Gauge How Much to Eat. Do not count calories, weigh food or other methods that make eating difficult. A fist or palm sized amount of lean protein along with a fist-sized amount of a complex carb (brown rice, oatmeal, and whole wheat) and fist sized serving of vegetable or fruit. 3. Eat Less More Often. Simple Rule: Eat every 3 hours. Eating nutritious smaller meals and snacks every few hours will keep your metabolism high all day long with a steady supply of energy. Do not eat out, take all your food to work. 4. Water Yourself Simple Rule: Drink twice as often as you eat. Water makes everything in our bodies work better. This cannot be understated. The first thing you should do ...

This is a short video showing how you "prove" yeast. Simply mix it in a bowl with warm water and sugar. If the yeast is good, it should "poof" like in this video. If nothing happens, you know not to make bread with this yeast, because the bread will flop! Proofing yeast is only necessary with traditional yeast. If you are using instant yeast, simply mix it in with your flour when adding to your recipe. www.annejisca.com

I decided to make a cake centered around some of my favorite Christmas songs and submit it to John Mayer's Interfaith baking contest. The main theme is "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus". The little kid is accompanied by a hippo and a donkey (yes I know it looks a bit like a mouse but it's a donkey) to represent "Dominic the Donkey" and "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas". It's a red velvet cake with cream cheese icing. The filling will be in the shape of a heart when the cake is cut. I also used edible sparkles and fondant.

This videos follows the process of making the Woodhouse loaf from scratch to finish. The white stuff you see at the beginning are Milk Kefir grains, I use them to sour milk for 24hours, which I then use to make a sourdough starter. This starter ferments for 24hours and is then used to leaven the main dough. The dough spends 5hrs in bulk fermentation, then is shaped and kept for 24 more hours in a cold room. It's finally baked for 75minutes. Et voilà!
