The eighth track off my album Rawg's Record, which came out in June '09. I'm playing all the instruments here: guitar, bass, tambourine (ha). I got my friend to sing it, who goes by a pseudonym on the record. We both do the backup vocals and the skit during the instrumental part. This is one of my favorite songs I've written. I wrote it about the single greatest restaurant known to mankind: The georgia Pig in Brunswick, GA. It's this tiny little shack and it has the absolute best barbecue of all time. It's unbelievable. I really don't take my songwriting that seriously, certainly my lyricism at least. Hope y'all like this one, enjoy. And make sure you stop by the place if you're rollin on I-95 down in georgia. Just listen to the song for directions.

I made this cake for our Annual Christmas Party at church. Enjoy. Southwest georgia Pound Cake 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened 3 cups sugar 6 eggs 3 cups all purpose flour 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1 cup heavy cream 2 tsp. vanilla extract Generously grease and flour 10 or 12 inch Bundt pan. Using and electric mixer, cream butter and sugar together until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Alternately add flour mixture and heavy cream to butter-sugar mixture, beginning and ending with flour. Stir in flavoring. Pour batter into prepared pan. Place in a cold oven, set oven temperature at 325 degrees and bake for 1 1/4 hours without opening oven door. Bake for an additional 15 minutes, if necessary. Remove from oven and cool in pan for 15 minutes. Invert onto cake plate and cool completely. When cool, place on cake plate and sprinkle with powdered sugar. Serve plain, or with a dollop of whipped cream.

But entertaining isnt hard, you simply need a few good recipes to pave the way. I have been incorporating Philadelphia Cream Cheese in so many of my recipes for years and the chance to Share the Love with America is thrilling. People need to remember their guests probably wont remember exactly what you served them; but they will only remember how you made them feel. I encourage people to call up some friends, invite them over and make them feel welcome. Entertaining at home is so much more fun---you can laugh a little louder, linger over the table longer, and save a bundle of cash! Like my personal favorite chef, Paula Deen, I was born and raised in South georgia 57 years ago. I am very familiar with her childhood town of Albany, as my Aunt Sledge lived there. Like Paula, I have two sons, Seth and Joey, however; I spaced them out a bit more than she did as my boys are aged 36 and 12. No that isnt a typo; they are indeed 24 years apart! I read her book It Aint All About the Cooking a few years ago, and her honesty and candor truly inspired me to be confident in my abilities to venture out with sharing my food flair with others. I live in Brunswick, GA, and work at the Hampton Inn & Suites on Jekyll Island in the sales department and do a little part-time catering for friends as well.
