We haven't had any hard frosts yet, but they are just around the corner here in zone 5. We're enjoying the squash, melons, and the second planting of spinach. I meant to plant more greens, but didn't get to it. Oh well, always next year -- the gardener's mantra. I'll keep working at building the beds up with available materials, ending with a deep mulch of fall leaves. I also found a recipe for an organic fertilizer from the book, "gardening When It Counts". I am going to try to find the ingredients to make some to help keep the fertility of my soil up next year and to apply in a larger, more conventional new garden that I hope to create next Spring.
