Now that Im a busy mom with a family to take care of Ive learned to appreciate pasta for its convenience and versatility too! I wont eat the nutrient-poor white stuff though (which pretty much means no pasta at restaurants). I made the switch to whole grain pasta years ago when I started eating a whole foods diet, but in the last four or five years Ive discovered sprouted whole grain pasta. While regular whole grain pasta is still fine, sprouting takes whole grains to a whole new level. Thats because sprouting is the only way to release all of the vital nutrients stored within whole grains. The sprouting process starts by germinating whole grains in pure filtered water. This activates beneficial enzymes, which causes sprouting and releases the nutrients within the whole grain that would otherwise lay inactive. Since Im always looking to maximize nutrition whenever possible sprouted pasta is right up my alley My favorite brand is Food for Life Ezekiel 4:9 Sprouted Grain Pasta (its available in Whole Foods Market, natural foods stores and some mainstream supermarkets). Eier Likoer (or just egg) (a few raisins?,a bit of brown sugar or molasses?) mix pot & oil, add rest and form into cookie on a piece of foil. bake at 350 for 10 min, or until bottom starts to turn brown. Eier Likoer makes good cookies, it's this yellow stuff usually somewhere around the Baily's. ingredients are egg yolks, sugar, and alcohol. Cannabis Cookies - 3 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips - 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated) - 1/4 cup amaretto liqueur, or an amaretto-flavored syrup - 1 teaspoon almond flavoring - 3/4 cup sliced almonds - 1 ounce finely ground cannabis - 1/2 cup butter Heat cannabis in the melted butter for 45 minutes or so (or however you prefer to make it). Set aside. Grease a 9x9 pan and sprinkle with the sliced almonds. Put chocolate chips and condensed milk into a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 3-3 1/2 minutes on high heat or until chocolate is melted. Add all other ingredients (microwave the budder first to liquefy it if it has set). Stir until smooth. Pour into pan and place in fridge or freezer. Should serve as many as 30 people of an ordinary tolerance.

How would you like to save one-third or even one-half on some of the grocery items you buy? You can do it, but you have to know where to look. KMBC's Jim Flink put some local stores to the test to see if he could buy items cheaper just by shopping around. Flink tested three different kind of stores -- Price Chopper, ALDI and Wal-Mart. His shopping list was simple: oat cereal, a can of corn, a box of macaroni and cheese, eggs, ravioli, bananas, bread and bacon. Flink only bought off-brands and always bought the cheapest item available. He did not use any in-store discounts or coupons. In some cases, the price difference was remarkable. For example, macaroni and cheese was 63 cents at Price Chopper, 50 cents at Wal-Mart and 33 cents at ALDI. Flink reported that ALDI was the low price leader on every item purchased. ALDI sold oat cereal for $1.49, at a savings of 35 cents. Canned corn sold at 39 cents, versus a high of 63 cents. And ALDI also sold a dozen eggs for $1.39 versus a high of $1.78 at Wal-Mart. The smallest savings found was for a can of ravioli, there was only an 11-cent differential. The greatest savings difference was in bacon, although the sizes and quality were clearly different between the ALDI bacon, which sold for $1.79, and the bacon from Price Chopper that rang in at $4.28, Flink reported. (EURL) cutecatfaith.com Paris Saint-Denis, France, where I've lived since 1994, is an incredibly mixed city ethnically, but there aren't currently any Asiatic food stores I know of. Some years I can get certain "exotic" or specialty items, and some years I can't. We went to the 18th arrondissement of Paris today, around the Porte de La Chapelle area, which has a border contiguous with Saint-Denis. There are lots of Indian and Asiatic businesses there. We found an Asiatic supermarket which was open (several others nearby being closed) and it was funny because they really didn't speak French! Many of the condiments, sauces and other cooking ingredients used in Chinese cooking are not healthy I believe (many contain soy and food dyes), but I still want to use them from time to time, even for Western cooking. Years ago, I learned how to cook Japanese food, Chinese food and a few other Asiatic dishes but not the cuisines of Asian countries, such as Thailand (great food!) and Korea (wonderful!). (I used to like Malaysian food in NY -- funky and cheap!) Doing this sort of thing usually means investing in some new cookware and forgetting everything you know about "your" style of cooking. You have to unlearn and relearn. One of the reasons I've found Chinese cooking to be useful (it is a vast, vast country with an astonishing variety of regions and styles) is for adding variety to humdrum ingredients, such as ...

Making Sweet Chili Sauce. It turned out a little hotter than I originally intended but this sauce is ABSOLUTELY beautiful. I guess you can't use a Bhut Jolokia chili in anything & then call it mild. This is one chore I really enjoy. My suggestion would be to make half the recipe first time. You'll want to share it with your friends. By the way, the cayenne chili wasn't a concentrate like i said. It was cooked & blended in a little vinegar & strained.
