So Paula dean was on tv today and I was in the other room. I heard her cousin in the distance say "Wanna taste my pie?". Yeah, that did it. I howled. Thankfully 3 hours later it was still on that channel, so I went back on the dvr and recorded it. I have too much time on my hands. I'm already aware.

I made this cake for our Annual Christmas Party at church. Enjoy. Southwest Georgia Pound Cake 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened 3 cups sugar 6 eggs 3 cups all purpose flour 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1 cup heavy cream 2 tsp. vanilla extract Generously grease and flour 10 or 12 inch Bundt pan. Using and electric mixer, cream butter and sugar together until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Alternately add flour mixture and heavy cream to butter-sugar mixture, beginning and ending with flour. Stir in flavoring. Pour batter into prepared pan. Place in a cold oven, set oven temperature at 325 degrees and bake for 1 1/4 hours without opening oven door. Bake for an additional 15 minutes, if necessary. Remove from oven and cool in pan for 15 minutes. Invert onto cake plate and cool completely. When cool, place on cake plate and sprinkle with powdered sugar. Serve plain, or with a dollop of whipped cream.

Mama's Meatballs Ingredients: Meatballs: 1 large onion finely chopped 500g minced beef 1 inch cube of parmesan grated 1 tsp dried oregano salt pepper Sauce: 1 large onion finely chopped 1 tin of chopped tomatoes 1 large carrot grated 2 tbsp tomato puree 2 tbsp fresh pesto (or from a jar if you must) Finely chop 1 large onion and place in a blender along with the mince, salt, pepper, parmesan and oregano. Blend together. Rub a plate with some olive oil, then roll the mixture into small balls. Put the plate on top of a pan of gently simmering water and cover loosely with foil. Steam for 20 minutes. Meanwhile, sauté with olive oil in a pan, another onion, chopped garlic, grated carrot and a tin of tomatoes. Add the pesto, basil, tomato puree and salt and pepper. Cook for 15 minutes, then add the meatballs and their cooking juices. Cover and cook the sauce gently for a further 45 minutes. Serve with pasta, parmesan and fresh basil.
