Greetings! So I was knee deep in home renovation when I thought it might be a good idea to make a pie. What was I thinking? Well lucky for me this recipe is super simple and quick to throw together. 8 ingredients including one frozen pie crust and some nuts from the pantry and this pie was in the oven in a flash. Since Thanksgiving is a bit more than a week away, I wanted to share this pie with you in case you decide you would like to include it on your holiday table. The recipe will be included in my e-cookbook "Noreen's Kitchen Holiday Helper" which is slated for release in the coming days. Please look for more information regarding how and where to purchase the e-book. I hope you try this and I hope you enjoy it. As always, Happy Eating!

Greetings! Tonight, more of a demo "how to" than a recipe, showing you all how easy it is to make your own solid pack pumpkin. This is the easiest thing you will ever do! Granted it takes a bit more work than opening a can, but the results are superior. When you purchase canned solid pack pumpkin, you may not be getting what you think! I have read some articles that indicate that what is in that can may be some pumpkin but a greater majority of the time it is butternut squash, because the squash grow more quickly and produce more abundantly. So this way we know that when we make a pumpkin pie, that is exactly what we are getting! In a day or two I will use this pumpkin in a recipe fit for gift giving! Look for that one. AND! Don't forget to use those pumpkin seeds either! They are packed with fiber and nutrients as well as minerals, vitamins, fatty acids and lots of other good nutrition. Look up the health benefits of pumpkin and you will be amazed why we are not eating pounds of this every year! So give this a try and as always, Happy Eating and Happy Gifting!

Greetings! I want to make some cake pops so I decided to make my Mom's buttercream icing. I wanted an icing that was a bit thicker and suitable for piping because the cake pops need a hearty binder. This buttercream is my Mom's recipe. For those of you who may not have heard me speak of my mom, she used to be a pastry chef while I was growing up. That is how I learned to cook. At one time, we both worked in a bakery together. She is still way better than I am at the decorating end of things but I am still learning. I am impatient, that does not mix well with learning to pipe flowers. In all this recipe is very simple: 1 cup crisco 1/2 cup butter 2 pound bag powdered sugar 2 teaspoons vanilla 1 teaspoon butter flavor (or any flavor extract) Up to 4 tablespoons water depending on the weather on that day. Whip crisco and butter together for 10 minutes. Add in extracts and blend well. Add in powdered sugar gradually so you don't get a sugar snowstorm in your kitchen. Beat for a few minutes and determine if you need to add some water. Beat for 10 minutes. Now its ready to use. I hope you try this and I hope you enjoy it. As always, happy Eating!

Greetings! Fall is in the air and the mornings are crisp and the evenings are cool and the apples are abundant! The perfect time to make some Applesauce Cake. Moist, dense and seasoned with cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice, this cake hits all the right spots. Feel free to frost this with some of that cream cheese frosting that we made recently or just top with a dusting of powdered sugar and cut into squares and let everyone grab a piece as they walk past. This is a lovely gift idea for your neighbors or your coworkers. Divide the batter between two 9 inch square or round pans or a couple or a few mini loaf pans and when they are cool, top with powdered sugar, cream cheese frosting or some lemon glaze, wrap them up in some cellophane and tie with a pretty ribbon and give! I like to give these away the day before Thanksgiving so that my friends and neighbors will have a nice little autumn nosh for breakfast to get their holiday going. It's a nice alternative to giving away dinner rolls or yeasted bread, which I have also done in the past, this is less work and appreciated just as much. One small cake or loaf is a nice gesture and says you are thinking of them. Give this one a try and add it to your holiday gift giving repertoire, As always, Happy Eating and Happy Gifting!

Greetings! Here I am showing you how to make a wonderful chocolate almond biscotti that you can share with your friends. How many times have you seen biscotti in the specialty stores or even the supermarket or specialty bakery and then looked at the price? I know from personal experience that they can range anywhere from $1 each to $10.00 for a package of 6! WHY? When you can make your own. Now, who among us does not have at least one brownie mix in their pantry? I would venture to guess most of us do. The best part of this recipe is that it starts with a brownie mix and then a few staple ingredients are added to make a wonderful product. Give this along with a mug filled with Chai Tea, Spice Tea or Hot Cocoa Mix from previous videos and you have a gift that will not soon be forgotten! I hope you try this and I hope you enjoy it. As always, Happy Gifting!

Greetings! Let's do one more personal care item this week and then we will move on to some food gifts and papercrafting ideas. Aromatherapy bath tea is simple and luxurious. Fill an extra large tea bag with dried herbs of your choice and some epsom salts and baking soda, iron them shut and you have made little pillows of relaxing heaven. These are so easy and you can make a ton of them for very little cost. Bundle them up in bunches of 4 or 6, tie them together with a pretty ribbon, put them in a cellophane bag add a nice tag with instructions on how to use and you can have your gift giving done in no time. Homemade, simple and it looks like you went to a lot of trouble. I promise I won't tell! (wink) So I hope you will consider giving these a try. I know that you will love them and so will your friends and family! Happy Gifting! www.noreenskitchen.com Greetings! Today I am sharing some really delicious Red Velvet Brownies that start with a cake mix. I am learning that you can do so much more with cake mix than just whip up an amazing cake! Cake, cookies, brownies, cake pops, you name it, you do it and the sky's the limit as to what you can flavor these up with! I will be doing more in the near future! I have had many of you ask me to start putting the recipe in the underbar. I don't really know why I stopped. I suppose it was a time issue. But I will rearrange my time and try very hard to include them for you. Red Velvet Brownies 1 Duncan Hines Red Velvet Cake Mix 1/2 Cup Water 3/4 Cup Melted Butter 1 Egg 1 Cup Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips 1/2 Cup White Chocolate Chips (optional) 1. In a mixing bowl combine cake mix, water, butter and egg. Mix until well combined. 2. Fold in semi sweet chocolate chips. 3. Spread evenly in a 9 x 13 baking pan that has been sprayed with cooking oil spray. 4. Top with 1/2 cup of white chocolate chips. 5. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. 6. Remove from oven and allow to cool for 30 minutes before cutting into squares. I hope you try this and I hope you enjoy it! As always, Happy Eating and Happy Gifting!

Happy Holidays! A week is left until the big day and boy am I ready (in some ways) My daughter was supposed to have a fund raiser at her school tonight, but they cancelled it due to the weather, so I had purchased all the ingredients to make Blondies. My family was excited that they would have some for dessert, and I couldn't disappoint, so here is my recipe for these delicious, chewy bars. These would make a great gift idea and everyone will love them. I hope you try them and I hope you enjoy them. As always Happy Eating!
