Yields: 24 servings Ingredients: ½ cup butter 1 cup brown sugar, packed 2/3 cup peanut butter ½ cup honey 2 tsp. vanilla 3 cups quick cooking oats ¼ cup flaxseeds ¼ cup sunflower kernals ¼ cup raisins ¼ cup dried cranberries ½ cup wheat germ 1 cup chocolate chips Preparation Directions: ~ In a saucepan melt butter; add brown sugar, peanut butter, and honey; heat to boiling. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. ~ Meanwhile in a large bowl combine oats, flaxseeds, sunflower seeds, raisins, cranberries, and wheat germ; mix to combine. Pour butter mixture over oat mixture, stir to combine. Let cool slightly and stir in chocolate chips. ~ Tightly press mixture into a 9 x 13-inch baking pan that has been sprayed with cooking spray. ~ Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely before cutting into bars.

This was from a cooking show, "The Main Ingredient", that was on Lifetime Television in 1996 hosted by soap opera actress Robin Mattson. I apologize for constant hissing or sssssssss...... sound going on in the background-I tried to get that out of there when I dubbed the VHS Tape to DVD-I tried changing the audio from LR to NORM to MIX on the VHS side of my VHS/DVD Recorder unit before I dubbed it over to DVD, but it made no difference, I also tried adjusting tracking. I think the VHS Tape has deteriorated since I recorded this show in the summer of 1996-I don't remember it ever making that sound. But maybe you can look over it and enjoy this long gone cooking show from Lifetime Television with Robin Mattson, the soap opera actress. I will be putting up some more of these shows. It was only on for a few months, then the show was cancelled after only being on for 6 months or so. Then, the show was taken over by Bobby Flay... You could try going to the graphic equalizer of your computer and adjust the sliders up or down... And that may help with the ssss sound. I know that on my TV when I'm watching this show on VHS or DVD, I can get rid of the sound by going to the audio options on my TV and turning down the treble and disabling Surround Sound... Go into the Control Panel in your computer under Sounds etc. to see what options you have. If you have Realtek Audio Manager on your computer, you can go to the Graphic Equalizer and adjust the sliders downward and that will get ...

In this video, Betty demonstrates how to make chewy Chocolate Drop Cookies. These are conveniently made with a cake mix and just a few other ingredients. They look yummy and taste great!
Ingredients:
½ cup butter
18.25-oz. chocolate cake mix (I used a Dark Chocolate Fudge cake mix.)
2 eggs, well-beaten
1 tablespoon water
½ cup confectioner's sugar, placed in a shallow bowl
cooking oil spray
In a large mixing bowl, use a pastry blender (or fork) to blend ½ cup butter and an 18.25-oz. package of chocolate cake mix, until the mixture is crumbly. Add 2 well-beaten eggs and 1 tablespoon water and stir until smooth. Let mixture rest 5 minutes. Use a spoon to get enough of the mixture out to form a 1-inch ball. Drop the mixture into the shallow bowl of confectioner's sugar. Use your hands to roll the mixture into a ball, coating it with confectioner's sugar. Place the coated chocolate ball in a baking pan that has been sprayed with cooking oil spray. Continue until all chocolate mixture has been made into coated chocolate drops. Bake at 375 degrees (F) for 10 minutes. Cool 1 minute in pan. Remove to wire rack and cool completely. These cookies will flatten during the baking process, and they will show a dusting of confectioner's sugar on top of the chocolate cookie. These are tremendously quick and easy to make, and they look beautiful and taste wonderful! I hope you enjoy this recipe! --Betty

In this video, Betty demonstrates how to make her Old Standby chewy Peanut Squares. These are made by pouring a tasty peanut butter sauce over cereal flakes, then cutting them into individual serving pieces once they are set up. Ingredients: ½ cup butter ¾ cup white syrup or Karo's light corn syrup ¾ cup sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla ¾ cup creamy peanut butter 4 cups Special K or cornflakes cereal (I used Special K with chocolate pieces.) Place ½ cup butter, ¾ cup white syrup or light corn syrup, and ¾ cup sugar in a medium to large pot. Place over medium heat, and bring to a boil. Boil 2 ½ minutes. Remove from heat and add 1 teaspoon vanilla and ¾ cup creamy peanut butter. In a large bowl, place 4 cups of Special K or cornflakes cereal. Pour the peanut butter sauce mixture over the cereal and mix thoroughly. Press into a 9-inch square pan. Let sit at room temperature for about half an hour, and then refrigerate for another half-hour. Cut into 16 squares and place on a nice serving dish. These keep well at room temperature throughout the day, but for longer storage, you may refrigerate or freeze them. This is a great pick-up dessert for your Super Bowl party! In a medium bowl, cream together white sugar, butter, and brown sugar. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla. 2. Combine flour, cinnamon, baking soda,oats,and salt. Stir into the creamed mixture. If you are using nuts or raisins, mix into dough, combining well. Cover, and chill dough for at least one hour. 3. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
